Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

He probably has a gazillion bikes. I have seen him on a Serotta before. Do not forget that his wife is very rich, and if she can't buy him the presidency, she can certainly keep him in a lot of expensive bikes.

This proves out my 2004 vote for President... W. the mountain bike wimp vs. Kerry the road bike century rider; he might be a little boring, but at least he's one of us :-)

I love this about pro cyclists. They are so much more accessible to the fan than in any other sport by far. And I'm not talking about the average cyclist, but even the greats! You're never gonna see me playing ball with Jordan or catch passes from Peyton manning. Great photos and a great cause. Congrats!

Very cool!
We have a Ride with Lance opportunity in our area but you need to raise at least $20,000. I don't know enough people to raise that much!

He does. But he's a politician. So it depends.

If it was me, I'd have asked if he moved his big boat back to Massachusetts and paid the taxes he owed the state he represents.

He still has the Serotta -and other bikes. Right now he prefers the Cervelo.

Were you guys just slowly cruising or actually going fast?
Depends.... I'd say our pace was "fast conversational". We went fast enough, but not so fast that we couldn't talk. On the flats we were cruising around 25-27mph... slower up hills... faster down.... Our average for the entire day was 24.3mph according to my computer. Not blazing, but not slow. The volunteers told us that there were only 5 riders ahead of us (out of 5500).

In other words you came in 8th in this race, with Lance Armstrong being one of the few people that could beat you.

It was like at the end of a stage in the tour when lance was immediately surrounded by press and can barely move.
that is awesome!!!

About 2,000 of those 5500 that finished merged from a route 29 miles shorter so even more impressive.
