People who have used BB30 adapters for Shimano Cranksets
For those of you with BB30 bikes who have used any kind of adapter to use a Shimano crankset, have you had any issues with them? Please state the type of adapter you used. Also, pics couldn't hurt!
Also, for my wondering self, is an Ultegra crankset really any better (if better at all?) than a FSA SL-K Light crankset? The FSA is way lighter (by almost 200g) and carbon (stiffer I assume), but does that make that much of a difference compared to the Ultegra crankset?

I'm using a Ultegra 6750 crank with a KCNC BB30 adapter and have never had any problems from it. Very easy to install, but you would need a BBT-9 (or similar)BB wrench and a torque wrench which a LBS should have, this unit requires 35 ft lbs of torque.
I have never used a FSA crank, so as far as it being stiffer I wouldn't know. The Ultegra crank is very stiff to me..

I don't run one of these but if I really wanted to the KCNC style is the only one I would use. I don't like the design of the others...most specifically the Wheels Manufacturing one that goes in the BB30 bearings. Seems half assed to me.
The main advantages to the Shimano cranks will be unified aesthetics with your group set which many people care about, and the quality of the shifting. The one thing Shimano has over just about every other company is that their ramp and pin design on the chain rings makes for great shifts. I don't have the current SKL but I ran one back in 2006 and honestly the quality of the chain rings was that crank set's weakness. So my guess is you would see an improvement in shifting, no difference in stiffness and yes the Ultegra will be heavier.

no pics, but I have a felt F5 with the composite bb30 to shimano adapter (was $10 at LBS). Using the 6750 crank with NO issues. Love it. Some day will take pictures.

I have the Wheels Manufacturing adapters, they have not worked well for me. I run a 6703 triple and the adapter on the crank side sticks out just a bit which affects the shifting. Going from the 52 to the 39 is never smooth. I'm going to pick up the KCNC adapter since it doesn't require locktite like the FSA does.

I ran adapters similar to the Wheels Manufacturing BSA to HollowTech II (Shimano) for several months in all conditions and with lots of climbing and some nasty terrain.
All no problem.
As with all press-fit bearing BB systems it boils down to installation: Do it ONCE and do it RIGHT.

I've been running the wheels mfg version for 3k+ miles on my new Tarmac with Red GXP cranks. The way the adapters just slip into the BB30 bearings, I really expected to have some issues over time with everything just 'floating' in there. Much to my surprise, I've had zero issues. Another few thousand miles without issue and I'll be convinced it's a solid approach.
