Alright. I am gifted $7500 to pick up a new bike . I am looking for the Aero Bike - Cervelo S5. Shop around and found 3 that fit my size.

1) 2012 Cervelo S5 Team Ultegra + ZIPP 404 Firecrest Clincher + Quarq Elsa 10R Power Meter + Upgrade Fizik Arione 00 ------- $7500 OTD

2) 2013 (New Design) Cervelo S5 Team Ultegra Di2 + ZIPP 404 Firecrest Clincher or Quarq Elsa 10R Power Meter + Upgrade Fizik Arione 00 ------- $7200 OTD

3) 2012 Cervelo S5 VWD DuraAce Di2 + Quarq Elsa 10R Power Meter + Upgrade Fizik Arione 00 ------- $8000 OTD

Which package is best for the bucks? Personally, I like #1 cause I get both PM and ZIPP..unless the Di2 make much different.
How good is the Di2? I have read some of the reviews and claimed no adjustment for 3 years and still running good.
DuraAce - Besides the weight, is it really much better than the Ultegra? In what way? I have been SRAM all the time.
VWD frame..beside lighter, why cost more?

save some of that money to get an aero fit...your body's position will make the most significant difference for aerodynamics.

I'd go for #1. Although I've heard nothing but great reviews from the Di2, it's more a luxury than a necessity compared to a PM and 404's. Which aren't a necessity either but will probably gain more performance from them.

On the Dura-Ace Di2, it's 11-speed vs the Ultegra's 10-speed.

Personally, if you prefer the 2013 paint job, I'd do something like get that + Power2Max powermeter + November Rail. Get new paint job (which I prefer, vastly), powermeter, and carbon clinchers. Just won't have sexy Zipp decals.

If it was an option there is no way I would not get the di2 on a time trial bike. I am running SRAM on mine, it works well but it does not compare to electric. Also, with the amount of money you are planning on spending attempt to negotiate a full professional bike fit with purchase.

If it were me I would go with the di2 with power meter. You can alway get a disc cover from www.wheelbuilder.com to hold you over until you can purchase some nice wheels.

With the wheels and the PM, it'll be the fastest and most useful of the three. Upgrade components as they wear out or as you come in to more money to waste.

whatever you choose, ask them to put on some extra decals so you remember what brand of bike it is...

The S5 isn't a time trial bike, just an "aero" road bike.


I'd go with whatever allowed me to get a powermeter. Nothing else on your list will have an impact on overall performance like a powermeter would.

Looks like #1 is my pick. Next Question, even though I have done the professional bike fit, twice.

I am 6'1" with 32.5" inseam. I get different size recommendation. On the website sizing chart, some say 58-60cm and some says 56cm. I was fitted by the Specialized Fitter and his chart came out 56.5cm. I went to another fitter (free of charge), he told me its about the top tube, angle, and bike measurement. All brands measure their bike differently. Cannot rely on those chart.

Then one of the dealers trying to convince me to get into the 58cm. He is 5'9" with 29" inseam and he is on 56cm (Cervelo S5). He said the top tube of S5 is shorter than normal road bike (which is 4mm shorter than Tarmac).

I have Tarmac SL4 58cm. After fitted, I need to shorter stem 90mm, 0 offset post then move forward saddle, and 170mm crank length.

Bianchi Infinito 57cm. For some reason, I need to extend stem 130mm, 25mm offset post and 172.5mm crank

Can I use my measurement from the Tarmac/Bianchi (pretty similar) on Cervelo S5 or I will have to fit again? I just want to make sure the fitter isn't trying to get me in just to make extra profit since he said I need to fit every bike with different model and brand. hmmmmm....really?
