first part of my trip is getting stretched out a little, so my route from SF to DEN is getting more and more direct. haven't been on a bike yet, but i've been hanging out with a friend who also just split from her husband. apparently we married the same person because there's been a lot of commiserating. it's good. she's in a tougher spot however since they have a three year old daughter.
the kid *almost* makes me want to have kids. almost. she's pretty amazing.
today, i worked on some last minute freelance projects, and then we went shoe shopping. there's a banquet i somehow got into saturday night and i didn't have room for a pair of heels. so, i bought a pair here, which i'll ship back home with the dress i packed. kenny roberts is being honored, so that'll be pretty cool. it'll be the first time i'll get to participate in an event like this in the audience, instead of working behind the scenes and getting stressed.

Also important to note, I am from here (40 miles south actually), have always lived here (within a 90 minute drive or so), and intend to die here. My family has been here since a Revolutionary War land grant. I feel for those who lack a lasting here.

Everytime I navigate in BF I now get to hear the NOAH ad. Not seeing that movie just for the fact that this is really annoying.

You should be. I totally made that up. VV was a long time poster.
When I first cropped in here, wasn't @v70cat a frequent poster in Addiction? I was arguing (not really) with him in the DT shifter thread prior to it jumping the shark, and I thought he was a former Addict. I think we lost him in the kitten dust up, IIRC.

That does sound nice, actually. I definitely have no lasting here, and on top of that all my best peeps are scattered to the winds it seems. Thank god for Facebook, which is a stupid thing, but it lets me keep track of many of those people. But not quite the same as what you have, Roll.

That is why I put the "not really". I took no immediate or lasting offense, and through it, I kept thinking, "I know him from somewhere?" And the funniest thing about the SS is, I absolutely hated it until I understood it, now I love it.

The day is here. Our first sail trip of the year. 30 mi passage to Catalina Island and two nights at the island. We're bringing two friends and meeting up with some others who will also be sailing over for the weekend.
Final check of the marine forecast is giving us variable winds from the west, which is a sailable direction. Winds generally are stronger in the afternoon, so we're going to head out mid-day and see what kind of wind we can find. That will put us in our anchorage around 5 or 6pm, an hour or so before sunset.
As is typical for these things, lots of last minute problems to solve this am. Mainsail was out at sailmaker being repaired, promised back last week. Of course it just came back last night and needs to be put on the mast still. Dinghy outboard wouldn't start due to fouled spark plug, a spare one of which could not be obtained down near the boat (40 mi from home) but ironically four were available in the autozone just around the corner from our house. So also that will need to be dealt with before we leave. Oh yeah and the air leak in our fuel line for the inboard diesel engine, which was supposedly repaired, is back. Causes the engine to sometimes not start for brief periods of time (good thing we have sails, lol). This has already caused Mr. H to declare that he will bail on the big event of the weekend, the Wildflower hike. Lol, he hates that hike anyway, it's steep and long. He would rather stay on the boat and attempt to find the air leak. This is why I try to bring friends sailing- he likes to mess around on the boat and I like to hike up a relentlessly steep hills.
We have a nice agenda for the weekend. Leave when we leave. Get there when we get there. Drinks and dinner ashore. Tomorrow am the big hike, then late lunch, then afternoon nap/lounging around. Sunset hosting our friends (the ones sailing over on their own boat) for cocktails. Some kind of simple dinner aboard if we feel like it. Wake up whenever on Sunday, leave for home whenever. It would be nice to get back at a decent hour, so we can watch Game of Thrones.
We'll post you some pics if we get good ones.

@RUOkie, I have done some research to support your move to Japan, and the following names appear to be BF available: RULost, RUSureaboutthis, RUJapanese, RUNippon, and RULonesometonight. The last one only came up because I am in a "Lady and the Tramp" mood.

Nice. I really have to replace my Mazda3 hatchback, and I would just get another, but they ruined the grille on them. The Ford Focus should be incredibly similar, so I have to find a stick shift one to try.
And I am strangely drawn to the Chevy Sonic hatchback. The wife is for me getting a Honda Fit. I can't warm up to that one.
