Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's get-in-the-house-and-stay-warm-and-dry weather.

A snark not felt is not a snark. The snarkee must be at least somewhat aware of the snark offering or the true value of the snark is reduced.

Hmm, I can see your point. I did ride 10 miles with it today, so more than a jaunt around the block but still far less than the 40 miles that I'd have the bottle back there. If I don't bring my jacket, I could ditch the whole seat pack around the 60 mile mark and then be done with it. Or I could still ditch it at 60 miles and shove my jacket into a jersey pocket. But still, something will be back there for at least 60 miles.

My only other options are to go with the Camelbak after all, but I never did a test ride with it. Or have Mr H SAG the hill for us, which is 5-6 hours of his time for a liter of water. So I think I'm going to go with the seat pack for lack of better options right now.

I am quite thrilled that I have been able to live and raise a family without the need to impress others. Life is too short to live under that burden.

It was cheap -- less than $100, including the rings (tungsten*), Machka's $5 dress and $2 shoes, and I got a $30 pair of trousers and $10 shirt.

But I don't count the return airfare for me from Australia, which was around $2500.

* Tungsten is a great conductor. A couple of weeks after getting back to Australia, I was doing some welding on a piece of farm equipment, caught the ring between the stick and the metal, and zapped it! I wasn't even welding at the time! So now that ring has a little notch in it. I am planning on getting another one of a slightly different style, but of tungsten again.
My wife watched her sister go through the planning of her marriage for a year, stress, more stress, and realized that she seemed very unhappy throughout. So when I proposed, and she accepted, it was with the provision that we elope and that it be outdoors, on a cliff overlooking Cuyahoga State Park in Akron. It was a special place for us, many Saturday afternoons watching the sunset, having a picnic and just being together. I, of course, accepted and we were married there on s sunny January 9th 25 years ago, a foot of clean fresh snow on the ground. She wore a blue wool dress she had made and boots and I a sweater and tie. It was us, a minister and that was it. Until my professor of surgery for my rotation at the time showed up with his two kids, a bottle of Champagne and a camera. He figured out what was up, cleaver guy. I would not change a thing and hope my kids can find a spouse and plan half as good.

She probably eats both Newtons outta the foil pack at the same time. I'd count that as one cookie. Kinda like a club sandwich or a big mac

What's really needed is a top tube mounted, spring loaded Newton dispenser, Pez style if you will, that holds a sleeve of Newtons.

Poor Stoney, thinks he is dealing with an amateur. I refer not to the regular Fig Newton but to these perfectly-packaged-for-cycling delicious snacks. Note they are almost all carbohydrate too.

But the Newtons in the larger packs are smaller. How they have 5 more cals than the ones in the twin pack.

Where's stoney getting this 55 number?

Mr Google says 2 cookies doth a serving make, one ten calories after bake, so 55 per fig, give or take.

Hey, are we still dancing for @Makel? This Camelback™ is making my back sweat.
