Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

On a happier note, mrs datlas has given me a pass to ride today. It's been awhile since I have has a two ride weekend. Today's weather outlook is calm and temps a good 10-15 degrees warmer than yesterday.

I am hoping these improved conditions will bring some riders out of the woodwork, yesterday it was just me and my Dutch clubmate. Those Dutch cyclists are badass. At least based on my n of 1.

Sounds like a good weight loss plan. Go ride for food to a restaurant that is closed.

Coastings advice to the whipped...

On riding day, say this, " Mrs [insert name], I am going for a ride later. I may be some time. Any questions? Save it."

Great ride, HP. Nice pics.

But you SoCal people ought to be arrested for uttering the term 'Dead of Winter'

I've long realized that lots of people on BF ride to offset eating . . . . instead of eating to enable riding.

I like her already. We will have a great time riding together when you take your winter trip to SoCal next year. The year in which you finally learn to love the hill.

Today I get to offset eating to shovel a path to the garage so I can offset more eating. Possible 1-3 inch snow turned into Really a lot.
