Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sram Red Wireless - Should Be Available Soon - Looking Good

Article from Monday on Sram Red wireless launch. Big improvement over wired systems (frame compatibility, aesthetics, installation but I'm sure it will be very expensive initially.

To tap or not to tap? SRAM?S electronic wireless shifters

You're waiting for unproven tech from a company that's never made a drivetrain?

I think wireless hydraulic disk brakes with thru axles are worth waiting for.

The SRAM promises to be sweet. The article put to rest many of the questions folks have raised.

I want to see the FSA offering too, but it's more of a, "The more the merrier," type of thing than any prejudice going in.

I hope it will prove to be good. That would bring them back into the game, and the more competition there is, the better. I hope FSA will prove to be good as well.

It looks like the only potential downside is price. But SRAM has a history of reasonableness

So realistically, you would only have to change out the FD & RD and your shifters - hope its not $2K~

need to offer a crank driven recharging system with switch for turning yours on while descending and your buddy's (surreptitiously) before ascending.

I was thinking the same thing. Something like "sprint mode" where at a certain RPM it will auto shift.

No. They called a general assembly and voted within Shimano. It was decided by a 2:1 vote that Shimano would stick with what they had for the next ten years. Most agreed it was easier to rest on their laurels.

Also, how about sequential shifting? (shift up or shift down without specifically shifting FD or RD)
