Another cycling shorts and "my junk" thread
Soooo, I ve been wearing mostly mtb shorts since I bought my new bike last year, only out of convenience. However, I used to ride about 10 years ago and embraced the lycra.
That being said I went shopping for shorts yesterday and I'll be damned if every pair at REI didn't show my junk. I mean you can see a pinkish color where my junk is. I had my girlfriend confirm that i was not hallucinating. Are all shorts these days just made cheaper/thinner/more sheer? I could always remember the bulge but you couldn't point out my Johnson back in the day. If that's how it has to be I guess that's the way it is, but damn I don't want to even pee at the gas station for fear of an exposure citation.

I have the same issue, with PI bibs at least.. I'd like to know a brand of bike shorts that don't show a detailed outline of my junk. Serious issue.

I stopped caring.
I'm already wearing a skin tight outfit with what looks like diapers between my legs hunched over an overpriced pile of carbon/metal rendered irrelevant since the advent of the combustion engine over a century ago ... me being worried about people seeing the outline of my tip is like closing the barn door to keep the wind from blowing the leftover hay out after the horses already bolted a looooooong time ago.

My Louis Garneau and Pearl Izumi shorts are thinner but still fine for modesty, although I prefer the classic chamois over today's adult diapers.

Well I guess the post was more of a statement than anything. I'm not really complaing just a little confused if these shorts are supposed to be this way or they just cant handle my hog.
Again I'm cool with the outline, but they're sorta see through....for real
[h=3][/h]Tried on 2 pair from PI and 2 from Garneau

I'm actually surprised that the OP got some serious responses.

Aerotech Top Shelf provide a reasonable amount of modesty. I like them, but not everyone does. I find them comfortable and have worn them on quite a few centuries. Primal shorts are also pretty good for not over sharing with the general public. I've used them extensively on long rides under varying conditions without any discomfort.

I've gotten over the whole wearing lycra thing but I'd like just a little more modesty when I stop to get drinks/snacks on longer rides. I don't think this is a stupid or unreasonable issue.

I wear red shorts so that my junk is more obvious. It's fun to watch the people that can't look away, and it's a great icebreaker.

I avoid getting into a paceline behind one guy in my crew. He frequently wears shorts that are so thin or so worn that I can easily see his ass crack.
