So here's how it plays out. Turns out this was not a powerspline crankset, but a square taper (bad assumption on my part-- awesome though, I don't feel so motivated to scrap the whole thing).

In case I have to replace some or all of it, what is a good BB & Crankset in the same quality/value...

Many thanks. After digging around a bit I went with some Avid BB7's -- great price and I can use the existing cables, levers, etc.

Picked up a used GT Avalanche 1.0 (frame, fork, drivetrain) as a fixer-upper. Not sure what year it is.

Things wrong with it:

Busted chain
Missing front wheel
Missing front brake caliper...

I'm looking for a lock that is very simple to use -- i.e. slide something into place, click, and go, key or short combination to unlock. Just something to disable the bike so someone can't *ride* it...
