thanks guys, some of that is very helpful. I'm definitely re-thinking the KK headset. I'm light weight (115lbs) and I don't do a lot of off road, so I think a cheaper one will do.

Well, about a quarter of my friends think it's cool (it's Eugene Oregon, biking is pretty encouraged here) and the rest think it's fine enough but are already getting cars and licenses themselves...
