Thanks for the tip2 wheeler. I guess I am just used to riding motorcycles with a lot lower center of gravity and my feet on the ground. Much more stable.

What is the proper way to get on and off of a bike?

I was at the LBS looking for my first bike and tried one out just for sizing purposes. It was a Trek mountain bike with a 19 inch frame I believe. I am 6'1 with a 33 inch inseam and about 290 pounds....

Sorry for the newbie question. But does having disc brakes make it more difficult to change out a tire or tub etc.? In other words is the wheel more difficult to remove, front or back?

I have carried one of those in .22 mag before. Definitely my last choice of something to carry though. I think a knife would be more effective against a an assailant but having a noisemaker like that...

Wipe down your gun when you get home at the end of the ride and sweat shouldn't be a problem. Just carry a silicone cloth with you.

How do you carry on your bike? I'm thinking shoulder rig with a loose t-shirt over it. Not the easiest to get to but better than nothing. Ankle holster seems as though it would be clumsy on a bike....
