I'll agree with #1. When I first started riding, I'd stay on the big ring and pedal slow....stay on the middle ring and pedal fast, you'll wear yourself out on the big ring.

Big ring is 30mph+

My OCR was too plain looking and I sold it for $100 less than I paid for it, like a year after I bought it. So I got the Allez. I should have spent another $1,000 and got a Roubaix or Tarmac.

Look at your AVG SPEED reading on your computer after every ride. If you ride the same route in the future, it should be faster than when you first started riding it. Barring traffic/etc
