They feel at least as strong as the STI levers....

They feel at least as strong as the STI levers. The big advantage for me is to be able to sit back and keep the weight off the front wheel in loose descents.

That's not a shiftmate, just a pulley similar to Avid Rollamajig. Makes for a cleaner derailleur cable run, less likely to catch a branch.
