I made the mistake of getting "buy one get one free" huge tubs of hummus and pretzels earlier this week. Such a bad idea.

This week I'm probably going to be netting close to zero pounds.

Bikes: Type of horse.

I haven't looked at weight in a month easily. 175 still. Power is up, weight is up, racing is going well.

I know this is the wrong thread, but I need to see who #2 works for but they've shut off the water to my building.

Damn.

I am blaming V-Day candy. You can't just throw it away. That would be rude.

173.6 this morning after a 3 day training camp, not much eating and a lecture on nutrition. I am now chasing rkwaki.

You don't gain 3 lbs of muscle in 1 week.

If you are using a resistance measurement technique for BF calculation, they are very sensitive to hydration. When I am well hydrated, my body fat measures lower and my weight is up. IMO, accurate BF measurement is by under water weighing. Skin calipers and resistance measurements are good for general trending and are a guide. I would not worry about it unless the upward trend continues.

DEXA scanning is considered the most accurate. From what research I have done BF scales are relatively accurate, usually a little low. They do rely on hydration, so it is important to measure at the same time of day. Like right when you get up.

When used in this fashion they are good tools to track BF losses and gains.

Does anyone here use a Tanita scale (or similar) to see BF and weight? What setting are you using in terms of activity level? In the summer race months I use #1 (I think) and in the off season where I'm riding and training less I use #3. That effects my BF rating a lot. Like 8% difference...

Yes, but I am not sure what setting you are referring to.

I do daily weight-ins and this can happen from time to time. It usually goes back to normal in a day or so. Water weight or a scale accuracy issue. Look at trends only.

Beer and water weight is gone. Back down to within a pound of when I left. Yay. Wasn't a total waste of a pre-season.

I have a Tanita scale and use the "athlete" setting. Compared to a caliper test, it reads about 4 points low. I'm more interested in trends so the absolute number isn't that important to me.

The whole thing is a joke as far as the reading goes, but it's a useful tool for trends.

He was probably bloated and holding a lot of fluid. Disney has that effect on a lot of people.
