Just got in from a night ride at Dupont
It was wet/raining and about 50. Not much to tell, it sucked but I needed to ride. I let Hambone40 talk me into racing at the icecycle in febuary this year so i need miles.Stupid Hambone

I just got in from an hour and a half at an indoor skatepark in the city. Me an 10 friends rented the whole place out. It was ok, not really my type of riding. Did alot of tabletops, tailwhips, x-ups, 180s nothin too great. I dont know how it happened but I snapped the screw that holds the brake cable housing to the caliper. It doesnt really matter because my brakes still work fine.

Rode about 7 miles today, but just on the roads. Nasty, cold headwind, 19f air temperature with a 7f windchill. Good stuff!

Well last night I got in 45 minutes on the trainer at a cadence of 50 - 60 with power intervals every 3 minutes. As boring as it sounds it ended up being interesting. I had a first, last night was the first time I have ever gotten a flat while riding a trainer. I guess I had the resistance set a little too high.

6pm night ride

Trail: 13 miles of windy singletrack in 2-4 inches of snow ranging from crusty to powdery. Had to dismount three times due to lost traction on uphill climbs. Once we got going the temperatures were fine and the woods blocked most of the wind. When the snow got crusty, you had to pedal hard even on the downhills. Quite a workout. Beats the hell out of the trainer.

Bike: rode the surly 1x1 fixed gear style (great in the snow). 33X15. I have a 1x1 flip flop hub with dual freewheel threads but run the fixed cog 'suicide style' with an old bottom bracket lockring and some locktite. Works for me and with the front disc brake I run I have no problems. the 33x15 was too much gear for me. I got around fine but the RPM was too low and it was way too much muscling. I am replacing the 15 rear with a 17 for the next snow ride. Front tire 2.7'' timberwolf race at 20psi, rear tire 2.24 Mutano Raptor run reverse at 28psi. I definately had the best traction of the group. The front tire floated well while providing suprising control. The rear dug in nicely.

All in all, a great night and looking forward to the weekend to go for a nice long ride.

i rode down to tha b i k e shop and bought an illllllll bottle cage a sick innertube, a bottle, and a crazy bell that looks like a hamburger , then i did a sweet jump off a curb, it must have been like 3 inches!!!! then i rode by the bimmer dealership and took caps of all the cars...i put on a set of m series valve coers...and now my bike is so much faster.....i dont think anyone will be able to top this ride

Last night, rode at Heritage park, Adrian MI. There were 10-12 nut jobs trudging through the snow for about 4-5 miles. Mostly running with the bike, but sometimes we were able to ride the 8" deep powder. Highlights included the festive Christmas lights, a pretty cool little rock garden the ride leader made just for this ride, and a hike to the top of a 80 foot high sled hill, and the corresponding ride down. Post ride whiskey and hot chocolate in the parking lot, then some damn good burgers and beers at the Barley House in downtown Adrian. Oh, and there was Parrot Bay and cream soda during the ride. Can you tell we are a bunch of lunatic singlespeeders?

Since I discovered that my chain had stretched significantly from the night ride saturday (it is almost 1/16, but not quite), I decided to remove it and go sledding. I don't have a sled, so I used my bike! I did about 20 runs, each dropping about 50 vertical feet. The fun part was it being at night, and I couldn't see anything, and not having a chain, and the corresponding hike up.

I rode the Alien Run trail again today, but this time there was snow on the ground. Ran into (almost literally, too) a couple guys who couldn't find part of the trail, so they turned around and came back. Listened to The Who and Jimi Hendrix. The conditions were pretty good, actually, for there being snow on the ground. It was below freezing but there wasn't wind, so even though the water in my bottle froze into an icy slush during the ride, I was pretty warm in my sweater, hat and gloves. The snow didn't interfere much with traction, surprisingly. I took it easy on some of the steeper descents and corners, but it wasn't bad.

i rode one loop around the black diamond trail at hartshorne. not sure how long it took.

my first ride where there was a good amount of mud. it was a great ride, i have not been out there in a while and i think i made the best of it. some climbs were a little muddy, which made it difficult and some times i needed to walk up them. my first ride since i switched my front brake to the rightside. have to say it took my a little to get used to it, but i think the front brake is better over there.

Summary - Was a great day yet again! This time we completed the full 6.2km track described above, it was very fun and challenging. Although I did run into a rock going very fast around a corner and over handel bars into surrounding rocks, i'm OK though! But my front wheel is bent, I never thought the day would come where I would have to 'true' the front wheel! I myself am defintaley improving skills on rocks and cornering on tight single track, my fitness for the uphill sections is also getting better

Did the Mundaring loop yesterday, theoretically about 15 k's but got well lost on the second leg and made it about 20 k's. Temp was ideal about 22C and overcast, trail varied from "take the kids" to "Omigod" with some ugly yet strangely appealing washouts and rocks. Overall a decent ride after many weeks slackness due to study commitments, I am so out of shape. Will do it all again ASAP.

It's in Western N.C. The cool thing is its 5 min. from my house, what sucks is the big ice storm that just destroyed everything. It's great,you should come up for the next Southeast forum ride.

I rode up at Bluff Point Groton today. Very muddy since we've had some warm temps as of late.

Was good fun but goddamn I'm out of shape. I was exhausted at the end, while last summer I would have barely broken a sweat.

Rode Butter Gap in Pisgah today with some friends.I forgot my shoes so I rode platforms.Thats strange for me. I was tweeking a new ride so just a few pics. The weather was sunny and 55. Rode with Hambone40,Girlscout13,Pike,Justin and Keith the owner of Sycamore Cycles. I think everyone went down today but it was good.Hambone took a good high speed trip over the bars,he's OK the tree stopped him.

Location: Ft. Ord Public Lands, Monterey, CA
Trail - A whole bunch - many of the ones I rode today are part of the Sea Otter course in April (trails by name - Goat, Ewok, Outhouse, Three Sisters, and other's I can't remember)
Ride time - wasn't keeping track, but less than 2 hours
Distance (mi) - Total: ??around 13-14ish.
Weather - Supposed to rain, but was about 55-60 and overcast - rain held off.
Ride Partners - me, myself, I, some bunnies, birds, a deer, and a bobcat.
Trail conditions - firm and not too sandy - great traction.
Trail descriptions - Mostly single track, some fire roads (about a mile)
Summary - great trails and a good quick ride - some steep short uphills with pretty loose dirt (~100 ft long), a bunch of longer climbs, and lots of great twisty singletrack. Not Many roots and rocks but the trails can be pretty rough - enough to max 4" of travel while flying along...

Trail Conditions: Great, a little muddy at times, just enought to leave a badge of honor on the bikes.
Trail Descriptions: Single track only.
Summary: great trails, enough obsticles, plenty of roots, Tons of leaves but trail is always visible. Saw another dad with his 7 or 8 year old in training, cool!

Got my SXT rolling (actually, stopping) again last night and hit the jumps at the park for a couple hours. The upper section was nice and tacky, the bottom a little mushy.

There were quite a few little kids out there - it's always amazing to me to watch the progression an eight year old shows in an afternoon. They start out barely being able to roll over the jumps, and by the time they're done, they're getting good air and grinning from ear to ear. We work hard to keep a nice positive vibe, chat with the parents, and everybody's stoked.

I shoulda come down there today,dang'it! I rode Pine Tree, Ceadar rock,Burnt Mtn. No hotties there unless you count the Girlscout. I feel like such a bodaggit,gosh!
