Did you ride today?

Genetics have failed me
Did some riding on my bro-in-law MTB. Trued his rear wheel and took it through the construction zone next to my house to see how the wheel would hold up. Had fun toying around on it.

Got a nice relaxing 17 mile ride in with the Mrs. Would have been better but her hayfever allergies really kicked up as we rode thru the countryside.

But atleast it was nice and dry for me. Good job for sticking it out in the rain, I remember last year was pretty miserable with everything soaked.

9/5 100 miles, 5:46 minutes total time. This was my first century in over 15 years and my first ever solo. The weather was beautiful on Friday, overcast and the computer said it never got above 68F. I tried GU gels for the first time, they worked great at keeping my energy up along with water and Gatorade. I stopped twice for water refills at a McDonalds and a small park, two more times in cornfields due to apparent overhydration (what to do when the leaves and corn are gone?). Anyway, it was big fun! The route if you're interested:

Today was my 2nd ride in Milwaukee. I rode with another guy from school and we went up lake drive and looped around. I really have no idea where. But it was a good 34 miles. It was also my 2nd ride on the powertap so watching that was fun. I hit a peak wattage of 1200 which I was happy with. But not riding a whole lot with this whole college thing going on, and just getting settled in.

9/9 - 29.4 miles
Rode up north to 135th St. in Plainfield. Once by middle part, noticed traffic backed up fairly good on 126 about 1/2 mile east of 59. Was thinking 55 was messed up again but about a half hour later when I was headed towards Renwick, I-55 was moving good. So it had to be a train backing traffic up.

I've got the green jersey on bikewire today. Ah, it feels good to bask in the envious looks of all the other bikewire contestants.
Too bad my average is going to drop down alot by tonight after I'm done with my commute home tonight with my repaired commuter and his new Nitto stem.

9/10 - 17.8 miles
Rode on the newer stretch of the Old Plank Road Trail from where the new trailhead is being built (on Washington St. 1/2 mile west of Briggs in Joliet) to Park Rd. (original west trailhead) to plot it on my GPS. The new trailhead lot is paved but trail not totally done yet. There was a big tree branch down across the path between the new trailhead and the Collision Revision lot (workers probably don't want folks on it yet). Clear sailing from Collision Revision lot eastward.

Since 9/6 I've only done a few 10-20 mile rides here and there. I got a minor knee injury that I'm trying to keep healthy, while still getting in some riding.
Also, I finished building my new track bike, and I've been busy dialing in the fit of everything with the aerobars and such. I put drops on it tonight, and the saddle-bar drop is about 2.5 feet!

9/10-16 miles on the cross bike. Found out the Spin series is cancelled. So I atleast got to test out the bike on a secret course.
