Wider tire in the front?

On wet days I run a 2.3 in the front and a 2.2 in the rear. It seems that it makes landing drops a lot more forgiving. I have landed drops perfectly and still had my front tire slip out when I had a 2.1 in the front. The 2.2 in the back has a pretty aggressive tread pattern so I'm happy with the size on that. Has anyone else done this?

I run a 2.3 in front and a 2.1 in back. This is for XC. Better control in front. Lower rolling resistance in back.

But, but, but, cars have wider tires in the back for better traction!

That was what got me onto the train of thought that brought me to switch my front and rear tires. We arent going for 0-20 in under 4 seconds. The gash in my leg also got me thinking that i needed to change something after a slip out when doing a bunny hop.

Oh, well, I do suppose a general tone of sarcasm is difficult to convey through the internet.

Bikes: 2006 Windsor Dover w/105, 2007 GT Avalanche w/XT, 1995 Trek 820 setup for touring, 201? Yeah single-speed folder, 199? Huffy tandem.

I'm running a 2.35" with a rounder profile in front and a 2.1" with flatter profile in back.

Bikes: hardtail, squishy, fixed roadie, fixed crosser

2.6/2.35 front/rear on the hardtail and the singlespeed.

2.6/2.7 front/rear on the big squishy bike.

all variations of kenda sticky rubber tires.

try it and see how it works on you trails. only one way to find out...

I'm trying a 2.3 in the front and a 2.1 in the back (I ride XC exclusively). It definately gives a really nice grip ballance but not sure if I like the increased rolling resistance. Rolling resistance aside though I think bigger front is the way to go.
