Sram Rival 09 up/down shifting problems

For a while now I am only able to shift up/down on my RD by 2 or 3 speeds at a time. I went to a LBS and they told that most likely there is something wrong with my shifter.

They offered to take a peak inside the shifters but I am not sure if this will void the warranty. I will have to check what is the RMA process after the weekend. Could there be something else than a faulty shifter that causes this problem?

Had the shifters for about 4 months and slightly less than 3000km on them.

There could be dirt in there, you can flush it out with something like WD-40 ,then re-oil with triflow. If it a LBS no it will not void the warranty . If it broken then it need replacing since there no replacement parts.
