Between my 2 bikes I have various electronics that require 6 batteries, either 2025 or 2032. I have other stuff that take them too. I've totally migrated to rechargeables for AA's and AAA's but that's not an option for the bike batteries.

I've found that I can either buy them singly at the drugstore (or whatever) for $3-$5 or buy name brand strips of 10 off ebay for $5.

Just a tip.

With 3 bikes using wireless digital computers with 2032 in sending and receiving units, the tip to buy in strips of ten makes sense. Good tip.

For a quick fix on 2032's while on a tour, Dollar General has 'em in a 2 pack for much less than most places.

Radio Shack carries batteries and they can be bought in multipacks. They also stock the odd 1632 and such for some HR monitors.

I tried some of the batteries from Dollar General when the battery in the chest strap of my HRM went dead on a ride. Really inexpensive, but it didn't last very long, even though the "Best if used by" date still had two years left on it. Like tsl, I normally get mine (DuraCells) at Sam's or BJ's since all of my riding electronics use the 2032 batteries.

Well yeah!

Bought some very cheap 2032's at a dollar store once and they lasted maybe a 1/10th of the time. I threw the remainder away, which is major since I'm "frugal".

Hmmm...perhaps I'm just lucky but I've never noticed any difference in battery life between name brand batteries from Dollar General vs. any other store.

It's been several years since I've changed batteries. I wish it were not the case, but for some reason, I go through bike computers faster than a box of facial tissues. It seems that of the four bikes that have computers on them, none is more than two years old. I lost one that was stolen while the bike was securely locked and I was using a restroom along an MUP, I lost one when the bike was on the roof rack for a 200+ mile trip. I dropped one when taking if off to switch handlebars, and it broke. I took two of them off and gave them to my sons who were riding without them. I wish I was just changing batteries; it would be SO much less expensive.

The one plus in all of this is that my GPS unit, which I've had for several years is rechargeable, and the wheel sensor unit has yet to need a new battery. Although, now that I've posted this, it's likely to die within hours.

Ah Ha! I am not alone. That has been my track record for the past few years. Cold fingers dropping the computer and having to replace it.
I had one TREK computer die on me when I rode the cobbles down at Shawmont. Electronics tech I know told me about circuit board failures in copier/printers where the boards no longer use lead solder for the connections. The new solder tends to give brittle joints that are easily cracked by vibration. My last TREK Trip computer lasted two months of cold weather biking. Replaced it with a TOPEAK Panoram V12.

My recent Light & Motion Urban 300 headlight has a non-replaceable Lithium battery that recharges thru a micro-USB port. I either plug it in thru the wall socket, or I can plug it into my laptop at work (!). This appears to be the future of rechargeables. Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada now sells taillights that recharge the same way. And you can buy USB sockets that plug into a wall outlet, or into your car's lighter socket. Mostly these are for recharging your smartphone, but soon you'll be recharging everything!

Name brand batteries off ebay. Cheaper than dirt and usually free shipping, lots of sellers vie for your business.
