Considering purchasing 1993 Trek 2200
I'm considering purchasing a trek 2200 road bike. The person I am buying it from purchased it from a bike shop last year, and does not seem to know much more about it, other than the fact that it isn't the bike for them. The lowest the person will sell the bike for is $300. Is it worth it. Based on the color scheme and the components I have determined that it is from 1993. It has an aluminum fork, and a carbon tube frame. The group set it Shimano 105 STI. I used to have an off brand aluminum mid 2000's bike with Shimano Sora components, and I'm assuming this will be quite an upgrade from that bike. What do you guys think. Thanks!

Constant tinkerer
As long as all the components function (mainly the STI shifters) and the carbon tubes/joints are in good shape I think $300 is a fair price.
I sold my 1989 Trek 1500 (aluminum) with 600 Ultegra downtube shifters for $275. This bike is a bit newer with STI shifting.

Hey nsodmordex! Good luck with the trek if you decide to go for it. I'm assuming you're from the 716? I saw this bike last nite and considered it for a moment.

Yea I am, I think I am going to pass on it as well. I've got too many doubts about the carbon/aluminum frame. It isn't a one owner bike, so I've got no idea how many miles it has been ridder, or how it was treated. I'd definitely consider it for less, but since I'm looking for a daily rider I need something that I know is going to be reliable if I am going to pay that much.
