Budget Hybrid (to take a child seat) - advice appreciated

I am looking to purchase a hybrid mainly for leisure purposes.  In a couple of months I will be attaching a Hamax (or equivalent) child seat to the rear.

I'm on a pretty tight budget and have found a couple of interesting looking options below.  Any advice about which would be best value?  Both come in at about £225 with online discounts.

The Jamis is a nice machine but IF your going to haul a kid, I'd think the "TREK" with a "triple chain wheel set" in front would be a real plus! When your going up hills, with the weight of a child added to the rear of the bike, that small 28 tooth cog upfront would make the ride a LOT eaiser than the much larger single cog on the Jamis, jmho, ymmv. I don't haul a child but I do haul a utility trailer full of foodstuff's and on a uphill, I LOVE my triple chainwheel and use the smallest chainwheel a lot!! IF you can swing a bit more funds, the Trek T30 model would be a real sweet machine as it would be "lighter" and has better overall componets and very heavy duty looking rear rack, again, jmho, ymmv.
