sometimes the strap gets hung up on the crank arm when they spin around. didn't notice it while I was taking the pic

I grab my bars as close to the stem as possible for stability and balance every time I get my bikes down or put them away. They hang upside down high overhead (full military press extension needed to reach) on hooks in the garage. I tend to have clammy palms and grabbing tape is way less slippery than polished aluminum, chrome, or powder coat. Grabbing far from the stem causes balance issues. It helps a lot.

For me, completely wrapping every bar on every bike I have in Neubaum's and then finishing in twine is a signal to all who might notice that I worship at the altar of Petersen.
Like a Retrogression sticker on a seat tube or a chainring tattoo on a calf, I mark my allegiance with cloth bartape.
