Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Upping this thread because I'm thinking of changing my rear cog on my SSCX. Right now I'm running 38/16 and thinking of moving up to 18. It's mostly my around-town bike but I just moved to a hilly area and would also like to take the bike out on some easy single track. Thoughts?

Totally a personal preference. I'm running 48-22 fixed right now as an interm gearing. At first I hated it, way to spinny, but kinda starting to like it. I can throw my bike around corners like never before.
