Xb--Are you open to criticism of that build?
It just doesn't look like a steamroller to me. I typically see Miche parts on things like Pista concepts, Affinity, soma rush, etc. It just looks off on a steamroller. You are taking a bike that doesn't really have the look of a fast track bike and putting parts on that are meant for more aggressive bikes. If you are going to use all those Miche parts, you should at least take the Surly and Steamroller decals off the frame. Just my 2 cents. Not trying to be offensive, just telling you my impressions of the bike.

I used Campy parts on my bike, typically seen on a Pinarello or a Colnago. do I have to take the logos off?

No, campy has a different look than Miche, IMO. the font used on all the miche stuff is very chic looking, and the surly is definitely not chic. I'm not saying use crap parts, but my favorite Steamroller have more rugged looking parts. Just a thought. I would love to have that bike and it's obviously a great build....just a comment on the aesthetics

You've been saying 'just a thought' 'just a comment' 'my 2 cents' 'just my opinion' for the last half page

That's hilarious. Most of the people that ride at my local velodrome use KMC 710 or a Whitestar or a Miche. If you were to survey people that ride track, I'd bet that 50% use these and are happy with them. And the chains I have mentioned and recommended are inexpensive, but they certainly are not "budget chains." You realize that's possible to receive quality without spending much, right?
You obviously do not spend regular time at Dick Lane, since you're so far away. So, perhaps, you should read up in the Track forum and see what people are using because you obviously do not know what you're talking about.

Even if your guess is near true i'm not surprised. I guess you're coming from a different perspective being from dick lane, but i'm pretty sure it's a fairly safe assumption that if you're talking about casual track riding it's much less intense on a drive train than fast daily commuting in traffic. It is possible to receive quality without spending a lot but because you got a deal and it works for your use doesn't mean it's the best- it's just the best for you. Other people ride their bikes different ways that you would be foolish to assume about based on a picture. You seem to have some very particular opinions about what should and shouldn't be in this track bike/fixed gear world, i wonder how you even enjoy riding a bike in the first place hating everyone you see. But **** it this can go forever, you believe what you want, i know what i've experienced first hand- you don't give a **** what i think, i certainly couldn't care less about your reasoning (and judgments). What say we give everyone a break and call it quits now?

no one is holding a gun to your head. i have to tack conditionals onto everything I say in these threads b/c in the past ppl have told me i'm too harsh, too mean, and even "a disgrace to BF" haha. If ppl weren't so sensitive about their bikes, then I would be more upfront about it. Or I could just not comment on ppl's bikes, but then there would be no point to BF.

Grats, your estimate is 50% of the people you might know at your local track ride lower end chains and don't have a problem.

I dont hate anyone's bike -- I just think giving someone a circlejerk for their chain selection, like you did, is a bit odd. I also think you know very little about chains since you seem to believe that a z510hx or a whitestar are crappy, "budget" chains. You are wrong.
And, yes, I commute by bicycle and I've been riding fixed for 10 years now -- I ride nearly everwhere by bicycle since I have zero desire own a car. And so do thousands of people -- get off your high horse. you're riding style, whatever that means, is not so unique.

How you could exaggerate that into a circlejerk is beyond me, maybe the answer lies somewhere in your childhood.

aren't pursuit frames really uncomfortable? Could you guys ride them on long rides at all? I feel like I would be going crazy the whole time trying to get comfy.

no but that's cause his seatpost is further down than most. Usually I see a lot more saddle to bar drop on these bikes and it looks like torture. But I have heard of some people doing 30+ mile rides on them, so I dono

Read the original post, i didn't say anything about the chains you're talking about. I plainly thanked him for 'not picking the purple one' because i think a quality chain over a colored bmx one to match a build is a smart decision (although i've witnessed the z510hx fail on others as it has on me with rough use).
I think "commending" someone for purchasing a chain is just weird...and there's nothing particularly special about an HKK chain that warrants such a commending. I also think it's odd that you'd praise him for not buying a colored chain...why would think he'd buy a colored chain in the first place? because he has green spacers?
Whatever man -- you post was just weird. kinda like when a guy has a crush on a girl and just drools and compliments every single possible thing about her...kinda creepy and obvious you have a man-crush on that guy. that's cool though - aint nothing wrong with that.
