Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Oh man, just realized what was going on with the bars.

Though, I have run some goofy setups in the past, I wouldn't feel comfortable riding that.

Maybe it's an artistic impression of the broken leg...a constant reminder how it was mended. Or the bars are "tied in."

That's just the the way he likes his bars i guess. He's been running this set up for years. Some people just like things they're used to.

When I grow up, I want to be fast enough and have enough street cred to run weird, impractical handlebars and have no one question it.

Just cause I can.

I think that bar set up started out this way to make a bar narrower than available from the manufacturer(although chopped flatbars with ends would have done the trick). It also makes for easily adjustable reach and height if desired,i've seen pics where the bar ends where in front of the flat portion.

Just googled the bike because I honestly didn't know that much about it. ¥135,000 for a custom built frame, thats $1488.10 for us yankees.

damn they're pretty dope frames. I'd consider copping one if it was $400 less.

you know, i was originally for closing down the jackass thread, but now there are like 30 other threads that are trying very hard to not cross the line into the jackass thread, but are generally about someone's jackass bike... i liked it better when it was in one place.
