Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Weight isn't a huge factor; I just want it to be lighter than what I have. I know if I make my goal weight loss I'll spend way to much on parts. My other components aren't super light anyway.

What's the tubing on your Schwinn? Double/triple-butted chromoly can be pretty damn light, lighter than cheap aluminum, which you'd basically be getting at a $275 price point.
