SRAM chainline problems for FG side

Been a while. Haha ive been mashing the **** out of my bike.

Anyway, Im using SRAM omniums. I know i could probably search buit ill be a jackass and ask without looking lol.

I have a chainline problem. My chainline is fine when im riding freewheel...but when I change to teh FG side of the wheel, its off....and i get all these clunking sounds. Pretty annoying if you ask me. So I havent been able to ride FG ever since I built the bike.

Any solutions? Is it just not going to work? its not that big of a deal to me since I really like riding no matter if its Free or Fixed. Just wanna know if anyone whose had same problem found any solutions.

That's weird, man. What hub and cog are you using? I've got a nice straight chainline with my Omnium/Phil Wood setup.

Sounds like the wheel isn't dishless.

I've got no chainline issues with current hub and never had an issue with my origin8/formula hub.

Why yes he does. However, what I was getting at was the hub could be off center enough to cause issue with the fixed side. The freewheel might have enough play to not make noise, but not so much with the cog.

I doubt this.

This is a known issue, look at my review of the Omniums vs. FSA Track Pros

Don't use the spacers for the hub, it will force the chain even FURTHER out of line.

Best way to solve it is to mate your hub properly. I had a Miche Cog System on a D/A hub, had the chainline issue. Went to D/A Hub and D/A Cogs and it went away. Cogs are spaced at different widths - what hubs do you have?

You DO NOT want to redish a perfectly good wheel.

Sheldon has all the answers
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/chainline.html

there are tables with hubs and cogs specifications.
For example, if you take, say, 1/8'' Dura Ace cog and mount it on, say, the Miche track hub you will get 7.05+36.3 = 43.35 mm chainline which is 1.35mm off the ideal 42mm.

Better combination would be, for example, 1/8'' Dura Ace cog and Dura Ace 7700 track hub. It will give you 7.05+35.3 = 42.35 mm.

You can put some spacers between the crank and the chainring, and then the fixed chainline will be fine, but the freewheel chainline will be a bit off.

The other option is to find a cog that is closer to the center of the hub.

ahhh. Maybe I should have added that my wheel set is Eighthinch amelia...hell it was $99 SHIPPED with the cog tires and strips included... and tubes. I installed the cog myself. But.....thanks guys. Yes I have a flip flop Hub...else I would not have been able to use a freewheel.
But yeah. Ill check out the SB article lol. Thanks Idiq. I need find out what hubs I have. I forgot which hubs I had. Got the wheel set so long ago. Im thinking about upgrading wheel set very soon though, but in case I don't within the next year, I wan a be able to ride fixed. But yeah. Tanks
