Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I know I'm not the only one who really doesn't feel that Firefly. The seat, the seatpost clamp, the wheels, the crank.... that weird chrome bit on the TT that looks like it's supposed to be a cable guide. Wheels look silly on the frame, paint looks funny with the white seat and tape.

Gosh. I really don't like that bike, sorry.

A good example of how $$$$ doesn't necessarily = pretty.

Some manufactures are starting to shape/form Ti tubes. My cross bike has "snake" stays (tapered and curved). The down tube is ovalized to contact the BB and the head tube. Even the top tube has a flat underside, presumably to make it more comfortable to carry on your shoulder.

shaped titanium

Litespeed has been doing that for years, I have a 20yr old litespeed with 6/4 shaped pipes made out of flat sheets of titanium.

Now, they use hydro formed pipes.

Make a kickstarter or something? I've never looked into making my own kits but I feel like I'd do an OK job at it. no idea what the initial money down would be like tho. But I guess that's what preorders are for amirite?
