I would hereby like to point out how centrally located Chicago is. It is easy to get to, with cheap flights and a number of major highways in and out of the city. Also it is a great biking town and is lots of fun to explore by bike.
Also you're all invited to my bike gang's alleycat Memorial Day weekend.

Chicago is ****ing awesome. May be flat, but it's windy enough that you can pretend you're going uphill. I love my city.

getting a bike company to sponsor this isn't happening.
however, free beer is very possible. do any of you have a blog with +20000 monthly visits?
my friend did and he made contact and told them that him and his friends were doing a fixy bike ride and bbq one weekend. he said he would take pictures and post them on his blog. carlsberg sent 5 cases of beer to his house. there were 12 of us and a total of maybe 15 pics were posted. the only thing they asked was if the labels of the bottles could be visible in some of the photos.
he also had red stripe agree to this but he never followed through.
if the mods are cool with it you could use the forum as your 'blog'. scrod may need to be the contact man so **** seems official.
if I didn't have a career and children I would join you all.

I've been talking with Scrod and we're trying to sort out what city and when still.
My actual vote has been for Beverly, MA because that is where Scrod's business is, so we'd already have a man on the ground there. I'm going to email some of the people I've been in contact with through Surly, All City and Black Market bikes.

Misskaz and I have a ton of contacts here in Chicago in the bike scene. She throws ****ing alleycats that get sponsored for Christ's sake. I'm sure my restaurant would sponsor/let us use the back room for foods and beers if it wasn't a Friday or Saturday, and I'm sure I could get a shop on board. There are a couple breweries I might be able to sweet-talk into donating, too. I'm also fairly certain that there are a few bands and a venue I could snag for a huge ****ing party if I cashed in a couple favors.
Chicago is where this chiz needs to happen.

Seattle for the summer with jdgesus, cc700 and zoltani. We can get bags on bags on bags of dicks, which is all that really matters.

In tradition of suggesting your own location:
Why not SF Bay area? Cheap hotels. Ass loads of food. Quite a few members here.
Oh, and a velodrome.

Yeah now, the Bay area wouldn't be a bad idea and I could go see my grandparents in SoCal.
Add in the velodrome and yeah, you've got an interesting idea.
Might stew on it for a day or two before I really talk about it (finals).

I'm starting to get the feeling not many people will actually go to this thing unless it is in their town....

It'd probably be easier to just have a day where everyone meets in their respective cities for a ride. Also, we aren't a very big group.
