Duo-Sport Owners
I recently purchased a 1989 Duo-Sport and have yet to begin to tear it down for overhaul. This is a first tandem for me but I have many vinatge road and MTB bikes so bike mechanics is not new to me. On this bike, there are no cable guides under the bottom brackets but three small metal brazed on loops that the bare cables pass through. The loops seem too small for cable housing and there are no stops for cable housing. Bare cable passing over the bottom brackets can't be the way it is supposed to be is it?

Update..........apparently routing the cables beneath the bottom bracket and not use a nylon cable guide was just how it was done......wear marks show me this. This is not great but I have a solution to make it better. I'm going to clean this area well and use UHMW drawer slide tape....this will prvent it from wearing away at the BB and help it move smoother.

An alternate method is to glue on a 2" section of the nylon insert found inside some better cable housings.

If the holes underneath the bottom bracket are small enough you don not have to glue it.
