Knott County Historical Society B&B is Open
In planning for my TransAm trip starting in May 2012 I make it a point to check the ACA online addendas for the route. I was surprised to open up the latest addenda for section 11 and find ACA stating that the Knott County Historical Society B&B in Hindman, KY was closed. It isn't.
I called the guy who runs it, Dave, and he too was surprised to hear his B&B was closed. He said his August this year saw only 5 or 6 bicyclists stop for the night. He thought it had to do with the recession or something, because normally August is a heavy month of cyclists passing through. Dave is calling ACA to give them an immediate update to the status of his B&B.
BTW, his B&B really isn't a B&B, it is more like a Tent & Breakfast. He puts on a good spread for dinner too, has free Wifi, and he does your laundry...all for $25. Not a bad deal really.
