Patella Tracking Syndrome.

Anyone dealing wieth PTS? My right knee feels fine most day, cycling never seems to cause it any pain but I still get a constant clicking feeling in the kneecap. I've worm a patella strap when there was pain.

If anyone knows some good exercises to end the pain and clicking please let me know. I do some stretches and leg lifts but they never seem to solve the problem. I've been told there is a specific muscle I need to exercise although difficult to exercise as you kinda need to use those "Kill Bill", wiggle your little toe mind tricks to move it.

thanks.
Jaret

I'm going through the exact same thing, patella femoral syndrome is what I was told it's called. While there is no cure, what I've been told is to work the VMO or the inner quad. Leg lifts with toes pointed out in a V shape are supposed to work. However, my case is so bad that I really can't do much right now until everything calms down. I haven't rode my bike in over 2 weeks now!

The clicking is very annoying. Can you explain this patella strap or have a link for it? It makes since, because when my doctor squeezed my lower thigh, about 3-4 inches above my patella, it felt much better.

I was dealing with a bit of that from Dec-Jan. Wore a brace most of the time, and hit the gym to strengthen the leg muscles, especially the ones that cycling doesn't work.

Really nothing wrong with it now. I just need to warm up well, as the tendons still tend to click, though there is no pain. It gets smoother as it lubricates.

I read an article in Runner's World magazine about this condition (I have it on and off while walking) and it basically recommended daily stretching of the hamstrings and quadriceps.

This seems to work for me as I sometimes still feel a clicking in my kneecaps but no more pain. Loose muscles apparently let your patellas track correctly in their grooves.

Stretching the IT band can help, too.
