Note that hardhats aren't certified as bicycle helmets. They are meant to protect your head from small items dropped on it, not from impact with large items. That's why they have fairly small contact areas with your head.

Try looking for "Helmet covers". Some time back, I was able to find several sites offering helmet covers rather than just helmets.
