If your NEW chain is jumping the cogs on the OLD freewheel,( and you have sized the new chain correctly) likely you need to replace the old freewheel as well.
It is a cheap and easy repair to do - likely you can get a suitable $11 freewheel from Niagara like this http://www.niagaracycle.com/product_...oducts_id=5151 (and repack the rear wheel bearings while you are at it). If you don't have a tool to remove the old FW, your LBS might do it cheaply enough or even for free.
