In 1974 or '75 I rode a Raleigh International and read about soldering spokes. I built up an identical rear wheel and soldered up the spokes. The wheel was much harder, in fact too hard for regular day riding, but I saved it for loaded touring, to save my "good" wheel.
My bike is loaded just having me aboard, I'm 315 pounds and keep breaking spokes. anyone think it would help me?
