The noise sounds like one of those small birds at the beach. It occurs once per pedal revolution and stops when she stops pedaling. It she goes fast enough it becomes a solid whine.

I first thought it was a rear derailleur pulley. In fact after greasing the pulleys it stopped for a couple of rides. Now I think it is just intermittent. I've also swapped pedals and checked seat and seat post.

I was thinking about swapping rear derailleurs. I have a nearly new DuaAce RD7700, but it is 9 speed. I think some 9 speeds will work on 10 speed, but I'm not sure.

If it occurs once per pedal revolution, then it must be happening in a component that turns once per pedal revolution. I think that would rule out the rear derailer.

Check the bottom bracket, the chain rings or a shoe rubbing upon the crank arm.
