I lubed the pulleys with grease from the bike shop a couple of times and don't think the noise should come back that quick. I use ProLink chain lube every 500 miles. Not sure about the standing position, but it doesn't usually start whining until several miles into the ride. It's NOT the pedals, I checked.

Have the pedal bearings been greased?
Does the noise continue while pedaling in the standing position?
Your 9-speed D-A rear derailleur will work on a 10-speed Shimano drive train if the cage is long enough. It should work with a double crankset but probably not with triple due to the limited chain wrap capacity.
