I just recently got a rack and pannier combo yesterday. Since i haven't had a whole lot of experience with these, i can't say too much about comfort left. But! You can take off the back panel which has the J-Hooks on them and reveal the backpack straps. It has one large/deep pocket and a smaller one in the front.
