No. There is a chip in the head that controls the different modes. Some 2 mode lights use a resistor in the swith to controll the low setting.
It's suppossed to have memory. Leave it on for 5 or 10 seconds and it should come on in the last setting. The memory didn't work in mine. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16092
