On my first day of using SPDs I had two falls, both due to not remembering to click out and stopping. Then in the course of the next two years I had a couple of near falls where the bike wanted to lean over to the inconvenient side!

I gave up on SPDs and started using platforms like the way I used to before. I don't miss them at all and my SPD sandals are gathering dust. Thankfully I do century rides with my overweight & slow roadie friends so keeping up is not a problem (lets hope they don't browse this thread)!
