this begs the question, can you really get traditional base miles with 1.5 hours on a trainer?
Over the years I've collected various Grand Tour DVDs, TDF, Giro, Vuelta. Watching them helps take your mind off the clock.
But the clock is a very important tool, especially when doing intervals.
