If after more riding I decide it is too stretched out I can always install a shorter stem. The 20" came with a 120mm stem so a 90mm or 100mm would give about the same reach as the 18" Surly built bike has.

I also have an older Univega Via De Oro hybrid 17.5" bike and had to install a much longer than original stem to give me the reach I wanted. The stem on it is about 140mm. I prefer a fairly well stretched out riding position rather than a sit up and beg position. Others have different preferences for bike fit of course.
