In a race, I had an epiphany that maybe downing triple shots on my way to make a french press wasn't a good idea, and even though the caffeine was helping me endurance-wise, it was also making me nervous, anxious and twitchy.
So I had a little "coffee time-out" and switched to green tea, which, due to
L-theanine, doesn't give the same that coffee is well-known for.
But green tea just doesn't taste anywhere near as good for me. So now I'm trying out having both green tea and coffee pre-ride, to get that calming effect of L-theanine while at the same time getting that much needed caffe arabica taste.
Oh, and I only **** with french pressed Stumptown. Preferably beans of the Columbian and Brazilian variety. Stopped drinking gas station coffee in high school.
