Zombi thread.

Instead of spending $100 on toshi's, you could buy an entire clipless set-up

http://www.totalcycling.com/index.ph...urrency&id=USD
Shimano M520 dual sided clipless pedals ~$30 shipped.

http://www.bikebling.com/ProductDeta...o-SH-MT32-Shoe
Shimano MTB walkable shoes ~$65 shipped.

You save $5, have superior foot retention, and have an extra pair of pedals for your parts bin or other bike.

Cons are, skidding ability reduced somewhat, can't wear your hipster Sambas/Tigers/Romas with these, and I'm sure there is something else...

I just don't understand spending $100 on toe straps...

Buttttt, if you are sure about wanting them, I don't think your feet will be slipping out no matter what straps you use. I've never had my feet slip out of straps when skidding, even when they weren't tightened down entirely.
