My wife got me a new Specialized Rock Hopper for Christmas and I finally took it on a real ride last Tues. There were no water crossings or big drops just some mud and a lot of technical single track / rocks. I rinsed the bike off w/ the hose (being careful NOT to concentrate the hose on the hubs) when I got home. I put it in my stand today to make sure everything is straight before I go riding again and there is a low pitched ballsy rumble/groan from the rear hub. It sounds like the bearings are shot. The bike doesn't even have 100 miles on yet (maybe not even 50). What do you guys think the issue might be? Also, I would imagine the LBS where she got the bike would fix it for free under some kind of warranty, or doesn't that apply to bikes? This is my first new bike, so this is uncharted territory. Thanks guys (gals)
