I guess bmx helmets have their place but their not meant to take high speed impact. b,x guys fall when theyre goin relatively slow compared to fixies/roadies. ive heard stories of pepole who got concussions because the bmx helmet offered little protection from a 30+ mph impact. so... im stickin with my road helmet. the styrofoamesque material that protrudes does a good job protecting my head, ive smashed 2 helmets without injury. my opinion at least
