This reminded me of the "riders orientation" for a tour I did in Wyoming once. Somebody asked about the frequency of "facilities" and the organizers just said "the cows and cowboys have been crapping on this land since forever; nobody's going to care if you do it too". (Of course, in Wyoming, it's pretty much guaranteed that there will be no farm houses nearby and no cars will be coming, so the privacy issue wasn't much of a concern).
