The simple basis of it is, old french bikes are a world of their own, a world filled with potential pitfalls waiting to ensnare the uninitiated. A proper French build takes far more patience than a build based on almost any other vintage frame. From my own experience, a deep supply of spare parts and a certain level of patience is almost essential.
