Just take it in for a tune-up, then ride it while you get into better shape, get used to being on long rides and you'll get a better feel for how the bike fits and what you do and don't like about it.

As long as it's mechanically sound, it's a fine bike for just riding. Lots of races and centuries have been finished on bikes like that.
