I buy what I can find along the way. Usually that is stuff you wouldn't approve of, but sometimes I can find home made stuff at a produce stand or something.

I am not willing to carry much food from home, and won't bother with mail drops for jerky.

Not dried, but foil packages of tuna or salmon are good and somewhat readily available.

Edit, forgot to mention:
Various had sausages are good and keep well. Salami, pepperoni, etc. Also hard cheeses.
